SPE Evaluation of a Client/Server Application
نویسندگان
چکیده
This paper presents the results of a software performance evaluation of a client/server application in an Open Systems environment. Some interesting features of the design and the graphical user interface are described and their performance characteristics are evaluated. The evaluation uses a new Software Performance Engineering (SPE) tool to create software models and evaluate design alternatives.

An extensible and lightweight architecture for adaptive server applications
Server applications augmented with behavioural adaptation logic can react to environmental changes, creating self-managing server applications with improved quality of service at runtime. However, developing adaptive server applications is challenging due to the complexity of the underlying server technologies and highly dynamic application environments. This paper presents an architecture fram...
متن کاملMaDViWorld: a software framework for massively distributed virtual worlds
The MaDViWorld project represents an original attempt to define an appropriate software architecture for supporting massively distributed virtual world systems. A non-massively distributed virtual world system is typically engineered as a client–server application for which a single server or more rarely a small cluster of servers contain all the world pertinent data and assume the world access...
متن کاملSPE Models for Multi-Tier Client/Server Interactions with MQSeries and Other Middleware
This paper describes how to construct Software Performance Engineering (SPE) models of multitier client/server interactions with middleware such as MQSeries. It covers typical performance problems in distributed systems of this type and gives a brief review of the SPE modeling approach. A case study illustrates how to create the SPE models, detect and correct performance problems early in the l...
متن کاملThe WebDAV property design
This paper provides a detailed description of the general design space for metadata storage capabilities. The design space considers issues of metadata identification, typing and representation, dynamic behavior, predefined and user defined metadata, schema discovery/update, operations, API packaging/marshalling, searching, and versioning. The design space is used to structure a retrospective a...
متن کاملRemote Database Access in the Distributed Computing Environment
This paper describes the design, implementation and testing of a set of software modules that are used for remote database access in a distributed computing environment. The goal of our research and development is to implement a client server model using Structured Query Language (SQL) functions in the Open Software Foundation’s (OSF) distributed computing environment (DCE). This design is comp...
